Myra joined our Lord in eternal life on July 9th after a fierce battle with liver disease.
Myra was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High school where she was member of the Charmer’s dance team. She also received the honor of being named Miss St. Bernard. She was a proud graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where she obtained a BA in elementary and special education. In her years at Southeastern she was a member of AOII sorority, little sister of ATO fraternity, a member of the Lionette dance team, served on the homecoming court and was awarded Miss Congeniality. Later in life she was an active member of the SLU FELions. Myra’s passion was teaching and she earned a National Board Certification specializing in students with exceptional needs. She was dedicated to serving students with exceptional needs across all ages during her 30 year career.
She married the love of her life Vincent Clarence Catalanatto 50 years ago on August 9th. One thing that Myra loved most was spending time with her family. She is proceeded in death by her parents; Dorothy and BF Hood and her son; Steven J Catalanatto. She leaves behind her husband Vincent, daughter Jamie Holley (Michael) , son Dr Samuel Catalanatto (Heather) her six grandchildren Emily, Mathew, Audrey, Addison, Connor, and Carter, and her brother David Hood (Janet). She was very close to her brother and sister in laws Luke Catalanatto, Sue Mussachia, Rose Ann Robin, Melana Berry and Lisa Catalanatto. Her love for her cousins, neices, and nephews will never be forgotten.
Myra’s light in this world will be missed. Her warmth, gentle spirit, laughter and contagious smile were her trademark and will never be forgotten.
Services will be held at St Jospeh Catholic Church in Ponchatoula. Celebration of life to follow.
