Joseph D Sigler

March 23, 1945 - May 3, 2024

Joe Sigler died peacefully, May 3, 2024, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Sue Sigler; his children Brian Sigler, Allison MacKenzie (spouse Chris MacKenzie) and Keith Sigler (spouse Olga Sigler); his grandchildren Taylor, Mallory, Chris, Billy, Morgan, Joey, Ren and Hayden; and niece Susie Goetz.

Born on March 23, 1945, Joe grew up in Mount Vernon, NY. He met his wife Sue on a blind date and were later married in 1969. He played baseball at Adelphi University, before serving in the US Airforce during the Vietnam War. After his service, he finished his college degree at Pace University. Before kids, Joe loved riding his Triumph motorcycle, racing canoes, and camping with Sue and their friends.

After having kids, they lived in Newtown CT for many years where he opened his bike shop, TC Cycle. Much of the 90’s he travelled the state and country for wrestling tournaments and BMX races. Supporting his kids’ sports was a top priority for him and he was always their number one fan. He could always be found at the BMX track vending bike parts, volunteering as the gate starter and offering encouragement to all the riders.

Joe and Sue retired in Bluffton SC where he loved playing golf, making friends in the pool, and living the best of low country life. He loved playing with his grandkids both in SC and up in CT, teaching them to fish, how to throw a baseball and driving them wherever they needed to go. Joe was an athlete all his life and had a beautiful singing voice. He loved singing the oldies or any silly made up song. He was a caring individual, always willing to help anyone in need, and his smile would light up a room.
