It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ella "Lou" Harris Lankford of Charlotte NC. She passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025 at the age of 93 years old.
Lou was born on October 5, 1931 in Spartanburg SC, she was the eldest of seven children. Lou married Bobby Harold Harris Sr. in 1954 and was married for 43 years and had 3 beautiful children. After Bobby passed in 1997 Lou married Buck Lankford in 2002 and was married for 17 years until Bucks passing in 2019.
She is survived by her sons Bobby Harold Harris Jr. and William "Bill" Harris (Angie); five grandchildren Mike Rumph (Paul), Jessica Rumph Heavner (Brian), Neil Harris (Candis), Scott Harris, Justin Harris (Izabella), Brittany Byars (Parker), Austin Byars (Autumn) and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beautiful daughter Iris Harris Rumph.
Lou was best known to her loved ones as Nanny. She was heavily involved with her community. She loved to square dance and was on a bowling league for many years. Lou retired from the United States Post Office after many years of service. Lou's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Lou's family will honor her memory with a celebration of life on November 1, 2025 at 2:00, the services with be held at The Vine United Methodist Church 2101 Belvedere Ave Charlotte NC 28205
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the church, The Vine United Methodist Church in memory of Ella "Lou" Lankford.
