Andrew Peter Kivlan, son of the late Bernard and Mary Keough Kivlan, passed away on July 27, 2025, in Mandeville, Louisiana.

Born on September 28, 1955, in Yonkers, New York, Andrew was a standout track and field athlete at Sacred Heart High School. He continued both his academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Southwest Louisiana and University of Southern Mississippi.

Andrew dedicated over 40 years to education and coaching, earning a lasting legacy as both a teacher and coach in multiple sports. Among his proudest achievements were six State Soccer Championships, earned during his time at St. Stanislaus and Pearl High School. In Spring 2025, he was inducted into the Sacred Heart Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 1973.

Coach Kivlan was known for his iconic "game-day" jeans and a voice that could carry across any field. He inspired generations of student-athletes, helping to shape their success both on and off the field.

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mary Kivlan, and his older brother, Brian Kivlan. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Maureen Kivlan; his children: Gretchen O’Brien, Adrienne (Al) Theriot, Erin (PJ) Mellin, Michael (Ali) Kivlan, and Matthew Kivlan. He is also survived by his beloved 13 grandchildren: Alty Theriot, Ally Theriot, Anabel O’Brien, Alex Theriot, Abbey Theriot, Cooper Mellin, Kenzley Kivlan, Breccan Kivlan, Maddox Kivlan, Carrston Mellin, Walker Kivlan, Conner Mellin, and Frances Kate Kivlan. Andrew was a beloved uncle, cousin, grand uncle, friend, coach, mentor and teacher to countless others.

The family invites friends, faculty, students and former student-athletes of Buras High School, St. Stanislaus, Pearl High School and Pearl River Central High School to share in their stories and memories at a memorial service to be held at the Court Street Civic Center/Old Town Civic Center (122 Court St, Bay St. Louis, MS 39520) on Saturday, September 13th from 3-6pm with a short service starting at 4:30 PM.
